Cyaan.

"All three works in this programme originate in French theatre, offering an evening of dance and drama. The two Haydn symphonies are rooted in comedy and offer his most dramatic and theatrical music. Meanwhile, the Rameau is anchored in "tragédie lyrique” and forms the meat of our musical sandwich. Whilst the latter is fairly rooted in the French Baroque and Rameau’s mastery of stirring our emotions and affections, the Haydn symphonies - which were composed only a few years later - offer a remarkable contrast of the new Classical style through the world of comedy and musical skill. Our historically-informed playing can allow us to stay true to the joy and grace of these two styles."
