Grammy Award Nomination
the album Orchestras (Live) by Brussels Philharmonic and jazz legend Bill Frisell has been nominated for a Grammy Award
This Grammy nomination not only recognizes the recording itself but also celebrates the broader collaboration behind it. The Jazz Meets Symphonic series—an initiative by Brussels Philharmonic, Muziekcentrum De Bijloke, and Flagey—has been bringing jazz icons together with the symphony orchestra since 2016. It perfectly aligns with Brussels Philharmonic’s vision of exploring music across genres and continuously expanding artistic horizons.
Grammy nominations for Belgian artists (Toots Thielemans, Gotye) remain rare, underlining the exceptional quality of their work. With this first-ever nomination, Brussels Philharmonic reinforces its international relevance and strengthens its role as a cultural ambassador.
Brussels Philharmonic extends heartfelt congratulations to the entire team behind this recording and will be cheering them on during the 67th Grammy Awards on Sunday, February 2, 2025, in Los Angeles (European time: Monday, February 3, from 02:00 to 05:30).

With the album Orchestras, released on April 19, 2024 on Blue Note Records, Frisell continues to redefine the boundaries of jazz. Frisell has always projected an orchestral scope through his remarkably complete sense of harmony, a unique gift for melodies, and a keen feel for how dynamic range can be used to convey emotion.
Check out the album, and discover how he makes those symphonic evocations a reality:
