"we’ll be improvising. It’s an interaction between myself, Ilan and the orchestra" - learn more about the composition Sous Vide through this interview with the composer
Ilan Volkov boldly breaks open the boundaries of what music is and can be: anchors are cast aside, conventions are thrown out the window, and music becomes a physical experience - with Oren Ambarchi.
Volkov and Ambarchi explore, like partners in crime, the boundaries of the symphonic orchestra. During Scelsi Sound Magic, they are creating the improvisational work Sous Vide, a composition that comes into existence on the spot. They supplement the programme with works by Giacinto Scelsi (1905-1988) and Tristan Murail (°1947), composers who, like Ambarchi, are known for their experimental and innovative approach to music.
