album release: Scriabin 3

Brussels Philharmonic and Kazushi Ono continue their journey through the universe of Scriabin with a brand-new recording of Le Poème divin.

Scriabin 3 will be released on 4 April 2025 on the Evil Penguin Classic label, and delves even deeper into the visionary sound world of Alexander Scriabin — where ecstasy, colour and philosophy merge into one. Following the success of Scriabin 2, this new album once again celebrates the close artistic bond between the orchestra and its Music Director Kazushi Ono, who has led Brussels Philharmonic since 2022.

Kazushi Ono, reflecting on the choice of Scriabin, shared, "For me, Scriabin holds a central and unique role among composers. He is the first composer to engage deeply with mysticism, exploring its nuances through his music and offering us profound answers."

The grandiose and particularly colourful Third Symphony by Alexander Scriabin retains ties to the Romantic tradition while foreshadowing the daring tonalities of Scriabin’s later works. In three unbroken movements, it depicts the struggle between humanity and God (Luttes), the delights of a seductive passion (Voluptés’) and a Jeu divin in which the spirit gives itself over to the turbulence and lightness of an untethered existence.

“I want to place the listener at the center of the universe. My music must immerse them in a state of ecstasy and elevate them to a higher spiritual plane.” This quote encapsulates Alexander Scriabin’s (1872–1915) profound ambition to create a transformative emotional and spiritual experience for his audience.

Scriabin 3 by the Brussels Philharmonic and Kazushi Ono is now available on streaming platforms, in Dolby Atmos on Apple Music, Tidal and Amazon, and as a digisleeve CD.
