album release: Scriabin 2

The Brussels Philharmonic, led by distinguished conductor Kazushi Ono, is thrilled to announce the release of their latest album, Scriabin 2, marking a significant milestone as the first album released with Ono at the helm since he commenced his tenure as Music Director in 2022. The album is set to be available from April 5 on the label Evil Penguin Classic, showcasing the composer's unique blend of musical innovation and mysticism.

Kazushi Ono, reflecting on the choice of Scriabin, shared, "For me, Scriabin holds a central and unique role among composers. He is the first composer to engage deeply with mysticism, exploring its nuances through his music and offering us profound answers." This album delves into the enigmatic world of Alexander Scriabin, a composer whose work defies traditional categorization due to its distinct musical language.

Scriabin's journey from piano compositions to expansive orchestral works, including five symphonies created between 1899 and 1910, showcases his evolution from a late Romantic style to a more modernistic approach, drawing inspiration from symbolist poetry and philosophical figures. Envisioning himself as a musical messiah aiming to change the world, his Second Symphony provides a glimpse into this eccentric vision.

Scriabin 2 by the Brussels Philharmonic and Kazushi Ono is now available on streaming platforms, in Dolby Atmos on Apple Music, Tidal and Amazon, and as a digisleeve CD.
