Pieter Nieva

The Flemish conductor Pieter Nieva studied solfège, percussion, AMC and later trombone at the music academies of his birthplace Aartselaar and of Edegem and Wilrijk. At the age of 15 he shifted up a gear and started classical music studies at De Kunsthumaniora in Antwerp, followed by higher music studies at the Royal Flemish Conservatory of Antwerp. There he obtained his Bachelor Degree in Percussion with Carlo Willems and Koen Wilmaers and guest teacher Patrick De Smet. Under the direction of Dirk De Caluwe, Steven Verhaert and Jan Hadermann he obtained a Master's degree in Direction.

He participated in several recordings, television performances and musicals. Since 2015 he has been part of InTeam, a new music theatre company. He shared the stage with numerous national and international artists and wrote several orchestral arrangements including the spectacle musical 14-18.

He also performs as a percussionist with several esteemed orchestras and is a regular conductor with both wind and symphony orchestras. He is currently musical director of the Koninklijke Harmonie SFORZANDO Boom and the Koninklijke Muziekkapel van de Lokale Politie Antwerpen.
