Although Antonín Dvořák long held out against composing one, his Cello Concerto ultimately became one of the favourites around the world. Victor Julien-Laferrière, winner of the first Queen Elisabeth Competition for cello, is certainly cut out to be the soloist in this marvellous concerto.

The inspiration for his 7th Symphony was no different: “What is in my mind is love, God and my fatherland.”
