As a former ‘enfant terrible’ of the new wave, Danny Elfman developed a fascination for orchestration, a new world he came to through the film music he wrote for director Tim Burton. Looking beyond Batman, Edward Scissorhands and many other great film classics' scores, this concert offers a fine sampling of his talent for creating symphonic music: an extract from Serenada Schizophrana, which premiered in 2005 in Carnegie Hall, and Eleven Eleven, a violin concerto clearly influenced by Shostakovich and Prokofiev.
