Due to the measures against the spread of the corona virus taken by the Belgian government several events cannot take place on the planned date. This concert in Oostende has been cancelled, and in stead will take place on 30 January at 15:00 at Flagey in Brussels.
After his first two piano concertos, composed conservatively to keep the spotlights on the soloists and their virtuosity, Beethoven changes course in this 3rd Piano Concerto. He pulls out all the stops, using a minor key to convey emotion, drama and stormy heroism. A symphonic feast!
Liebrecht Vanbeckevoort, laureate and public favourite of the Queen Elisabeth Competition in 2007, knows this 3rd Piano Concerto very well. Not surprising, since Beethoven's piano concertos have occupied an important place in his repertoire from the start of his career.
